What does RESILIENCE mean to you?
Life kicking you right on the face and still getting back up.
What did you study and when did you graduate?
I graduated from Daystar university in 2011 with a Bachelors degree in public relations and marketing
How was life after graduation?
I immediately moved to Capetown to start modelling. I knew i didn't want to be in Kenya. I needed change.
Were you expecting to get a job after school or start a business?
I wanted to be a model. That's all i cared for. I lived that life then. Working as an international model. Now, i have no interest.
How did that work out?
Pretty well actually. I started out modelling and ended up acting in Hollywood movies. If i had never moved , i would never have discovered this talent. I've worked with Sean penn, Charlize Theron, Javier Bradem just to name drop a few.
How is it running a social enterprise?
It's very hard at first just like any other business but knowing that you are making a change not just making money keeps me going. My boyfriend says,"Doing good while doing well."
What are some of the barriers you face in your line of work?
Learning how business is done in Kenya. KRA, Shipping, Book keeping etc. Also, getting new clients takes time.
What keeps you going knowing you are doing an impactful job to the world but it still doesn't mean the barriers to operating are any less?
Getting messages from clients that TGC has changed their lives. That fuels my fire.
What's your message to any person looking to venture into social entrepreneurship?
Just start the money will follow. I guarantee you.
